For many, stretching is difficult, but it does not have to be. Before one gains flexibility, they must first understand some basics.
If we take a bit of play dough out of the cupboard and just yank it, it will tear. If we massage it and then stretch it, it will shape easily.
I like the elastic band analogy: Take an elastic band and stretch it to the max; it snaps. Take the same band and gently stretch it for 5 minutes a day; after a month, it’s twice the length.
The body works the same, if you want it to stretch to its maximum you simply have to stretch daily.
OK, so I stretch daily for 60 minutes, in 2.5 minutes on each leg with rest between each stretch (30 seconds). I have stretched out 5 days a week for over three decades and it keeps me flexible at 51 years old…

Why do I do only Monday to Friday? I teach 5 days so I stretch them days with two days rest.
Now you do not have to use the 60 Minute program even a 20 minutes program you will see the difference regardless of age.

Edited: By the way I was a 5th Dan here so 2008 I think but nothing has changed.
